Works for me too immediately without closing Notepad++ or closing the opened text files. Works for me, I don't know any other ways to do. To turn on this feature, go into Settings -> Preferences -> MISC. Maybe for that specific language, the option is still set. I prefer to have Notepad++ automatically refresh modified files. If you have a file open in Notepad++, and it is modified by an external source, Notepad++ will pop a dialog asking if you want to refresh it. Change the tab width until it matches your old indentation. To prevent Notepad++ from keeping files open across sessions, go into Settings -> Preferences -> Backup, and uncheck "Remember current session for next launch." Look at the tab/indentation settings (Settings/Perferences/Tab Settings). There is a section called Recent File History, but this only applies to recent files listed in the File menu. I do not like this feature, but it isn't obvious in the settings where to turn it off. Thankfully, there is an option turning off this bizarre feature.īy default, Notepad++ remembers the documents you've opened across sessions which requires you to have to manually close them or they will continue to reopen with each subsequent use (or fail to open and pop a warning when they no longer exist). You have to manually close each document to prevent this. By default, when you open the program, it re-opens every document you've ever opened with it.

The spell checker plugin seems to get broken after every update and needs to be manually fixed and isn't very easy to install to begin with. This requires you to have to wait for the plugin creator to fix them and send out updates which you have to install and reactivate. New updates frequently break compatibility with any installed plugins and turn them off or stop them from working.Far too many to list here, but more than any other text editor I've ever seen. The program has a lot of wonderful features.

Quickly Indenting/Outdenting - you can select a block of text in N++ and hit TAB to indent the entire block. When you open a YAML document, you may need to choose “YAML” under the “Language” menu to let it know that you’re editing a YAML doc. Uncheck the “use default value” and choose “replace by space”. Scroll down in the “Tab Settings” list to “yaml”. Go to Settings > Preferences and choose Tab Settings. N++ lets you make it so that when you hit TAB, it’ll insert the number of spaces you choose. But you probably don’t want to turn off the tab character globally. Make N++ use spaces instead of tabs - tabs are going to break YAML parsing. Make N++ display whitespace - under View > Show Symbol, turn on “Show White Space and TAB” At The bottom right, click the blue underlined number beside the Tab size: Press 2, and press enter.
